Lesson:
Objective
: SWBAT determine the number of sides and corners of a geometric figure IOT demonstrate properties of geometric figures by counting the number of sides/corners by using popsicle sticks.
Materials: Safety Signs (81/2 X 11) sheet size, Safety Sign Math worksheet (shown in power point), numbered popsicle sticks (1-8), Document Camera, Wipe Off Marker, Safety Sign Math Worksheet Answer Choices, Number Cards.
Procedure: Document Camera was used to enlarge safety signs so that all students were able to observe the counting of the sides and corners. The students came up to the document camera 1 at a time. I assisted the students in placing the numbered popsicle sticks on the sides of the safety signs for the students who needed assistance. After a student used the popsicle sticks to count, the teacher reminded the students of the number of sides/corners and showed them a number card. Students found the number card that was shown and glued it on the correct spot on their worksheet. I then would project the worksheet with the document camera and wrote the answer with a wipe off marker.
Closure: Students completed a follow up worksheet that asked for the students to mark the number of sides/corners that 2 different geometric shapes have.

Reflection: I feel that this lesson was a success for my students because they enjoy getting up to use the document camera and seeing their hands while they complete their work on the screen. My students were able to answer the question "How many sides/corners?" in different modalities throughout the lesson to show me that they were understanding the concept.
